sinh, sinhl
raw OCR
Calculates hyperbolic sine.
Defined in header <math.h>
Syntax
Real versions: Complex version:
#include <math.h> #include <complex.h>
double sinh(double x); complex sinh(complex x);
long double sinhl(long double x);
Portability
| DOS | UNIX | Windows | ANSI C | C++ only | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| sinhl | ■ | ■ | |||
| Real sinti | ■ | ■ | ■ | ■ | |
| Complex sinfi | ■ | ■ | ■ | ■ |
Remarks
sInh computes the hyperbolic sine, (e''- e^)/l. sini is the long double version; it takes a long double argument and returns a long double result.
Error handling for sinh and sinhl can be modified through the functions matherr and _matherrl.
The complex hyperbolic sine is defined by
sinh(z) = (exp(z) - exp(-z))/2
Return value
sinh and sinhl return the hyperbolic sine of x.
When the correct value overflows, these functions return the value
| HUGE_VAL | (sinh) or _LHUGE_VAL | (sinhl) of appropriate sign. Also, the |
global variable errno is set to ERANGE. See cosh.

Example
#include <stdio.h>
#include <math.h>
int main(void)
{
double result, x = 0.5; ■
result = sinh(x);
printfC'The hyperbolic sin() of %lf is %lf\n", x, result);
return 0;
