Borland C++ reference

directvideo

raw OCR global variable

Flag that controls video output.

Defined in header <conio.h>

Syntax

extern  int directvideo;

Remarks

directvideo controls whether your program's console output (from cputs, for example) goes directly to the video RAM (directvideo = 1) or goes via ROM BIOS calls (directvideo = 0).

The default value is directvideo = 1 (console output goes directly to video RAM). In order to use directvideo = 1, your system's video hardware must be identical to IBM display adapters. Setting directvideo = 0 allows your console output to work on any system that is IBM BIOS-compatible.
